Morph Animation Process
From the first conversation to final delivery, we manage the complete animation process for you.

Getting started
Communication aims
We begin by discussing your study, the audience, how and where it will be viewed and your communication aims.
Together, we agree what the animation needs to communicate and who it is for. You provide the relevant source materials, such as a Patient Information Sheet, lay summary or research findings as well as any logos and branding.
Writing the script
We work with you to develop a concise voiceover script based on the agreed word count.
The process can begin with a draft script from your team, or we can prepare the first draft from project documents such as a Patient Information Sheet, lay summary or research findings. The script uses clear, accessible language while remaining consistent with the terminology used for the project. Your team reviews and approves the script before we move on.

Design and storyboard
Design
We develop a unique visual style and set of illustrations for your project.
This may build on a style established through earlier work or be completely new. For a new style, we can use your existing logo and branding as the starting point for the design. If you do not have branding in place, we can create a new logo and simple project branding.
We illustrate three or four key scenes to show how the characters, settings, colours and graphics will work together. Your team reviews and approves the design before we develop the full storyboard.
Storyboard
We create a complete storyboard showing how every part of the script will be communicated visually.
It includes the script broken down by scene, the illustrated elements, on-screen text and animation directions. The illustrations are then used to produce the actual animation, so the storyboard provides a very clear sense of how the finished animation will come together. Your team reviews and approves the storyboard.
Where the animation will form part of an ethics submission, we recommend submitting the storyboard. It provides a clear sense of how the finished animation will look and includes the full script transcript, while allowing changes to be made before full animation production begins.

Production
Record the voiceover
We arrange a professional voiceover suited to the audience and subject.
We help select a suitable voice for the project and agree the final choice with your team. The approved script is then recorded and prepared for animation.
Animation and sound design
Our animation team brings the approved storyboard and voiceover together to create the animation.
We share the animation with your team for review. Once the animation has been approved, we complete the sound mix and add appropriate sound effects before sharing the finished animation for final approval.

Delivery
Once approved, we prepare the final animation and supporting files for you to download.
The animation can be embedded on a study website, included in a Patient Information Tool, shared online or used in presentations. We will also keep a version available on our Vimeo account.
The English animation includes:
- Hosting on our Vimeo account
- English subtitles and a VTT file for use on your own platforms
- An Image Pack containing illustrated assets from the animation for use in print, online and on social media
- A set of short animated clips for use on social media

Multi-language
Animations along with all our deliverables can be produced in multiple languages.
Once the English content is approved, we use Morph’s in-house AI translation tool, which uses multiple AI engines to generate and cross-check translations. We recommend that translations are reviewed by native speakers or the study team before publication.
Each additional-language animation includes:
- AI-generated voice-over
- Translated on-screen text
- Translated subtitles
- VTT subtitle file
We adjust the animation where needed to accommodate differences in voice-over length while keeping the design and meaning consistent across every version.

Stakeholder and public engagement
Clear communication is strongest when it is shaped by people who understand the study and those who will use the information.
Our process gives researchers, clinicians, trial managers, sponsors and communication teams clear opportunities to contribute.
Patient and Public Involvement representatives, including patients, carers and members of the public with relevant experience, can also contribute throughout the process. The script, design style, storyboard and animation provide clear, tangible materials to respond to, helping shape the language, tone, visuals and accessibility.
We coordinate feedback at each stage so key decisions are agreed before we move on. This helps different groups contribute at the most useful point while keeping the project focused and straightforward.
